Bad News People

You know it's going to be a long week when you wake up to news like this - the Zodiac release date has BEEN PUSHED BACK TO MARCH 2! This news has also been picked up by our bloggers and reported on other websites. Talk about infuriating for the fans, no trailer and this - another blow for the patient Fincher admirers.
I can only assume that Fincher isn't happy with the final cut of the movie and needs more time to retool it. That or either Paramount has really dropped the ball on this one. - D for marketing guys!
Do any of you fellow readers know the significance of this delay? Is March a better month for the movie to be released than January?
UPDATE - Latin hearthrob Iggy Romero points out a new Jeffery Wells article and he again claims that the movie is nearing completion! He then goes out to point out a scheduling conflict Paramount has with Dreamgirls & World Trade Centre all in heavy Oscar campaigns. Now you the readers tell me what movie would you rather see and which movie do you think has a better shot at Oscars - Dreamgirls, World Trade Centre or The Zodiac?

On a positive note it's about the same time of the year that Panic Room was released and that did HUGE business in the US. Also the worst of the weather on the east coast is over so audiences will be up.

Hey Pink Panther,

According to Jeff Wells, the film should be ready by next week, but Paramount doesn't want such a big distraction during Oscar season.

I just moved to New York, so I'll keep my eyes open for any preview screenings...

This is so stupid. I know I shouldn't get too excited about things, but this is the one thing I was waiting for, and it's pushed back. It's more of a December movie than a March movie. I hate March.

You might as well just light my face on fire and put it out with an axe.

March is the worst time for a movie to come out. Right AFTER the Oscars, meaning it is at the beginning of next year so no one will remember it come next awards season. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind anyone?

At this point, I am ready to see the left side of my body just to jee the trailer. That is all I ask. Is that so hard, Paramount?

March is MUCH better than January, which is the traditional studio dumping ground... a shift to March signals a vote of confidence in the movie. Good for the filmmakers, not good for us, though :)
